The experience starts when you walk through the door. Elegant décor and gracious staff members create a serene atmosphere more befitting a spa than a gym. Inside the cool, quiet fitness studio, your certified personal trainer guides you through a series of exercises designed to work out the whole body. One set of 4-6 slow-motion repetitions brings the muscles to complete failure—the point at which you can no longer move the weights, no matter how hard you try.
Failure, in fact, holds the key to getting stronger. Learning to drive your muscles to failure is an important part of the experience. Most people stop pushing once they feel the burn that signals the beginning of failure. Moving past the burn into muscle failure engages the deepest muscle fibers and builds lean muscle.
After five to seven exercises, once or twice a week, you’re done—free to pursue whatever you want: yoga, recreational sports… channel surfing. Your body takes this time to build muscle fiber, revving up your metabolism while making you stronger.
